Weather Overview for Puerto Banus

The weather in Puerto Banus is excellent with long hot summers and mild winters. Yearly average temperature is a fantastic +17 C. The good year round temperatures are thanks to the southerly location, the warm surrounding Mediterranean Sea and the shelter afforded by the nearby Sierra Nevada Mountains.

Summer

The Costa del Sol is famous for its sun and this is the season to come and enjoy it. Between June and September temperatures regularly reach the high 20s, and in the peak summer months they often enter the 30s. The summer months enjoy a fabulous 11 hours per day of sunshine on average. Rainfall is extremely rare – July, the driest month, averages just 2 mm. You can rely on long hot sunny summer days in this part of the world.

Autumn/Spring

These are both good seasons to visit, especially if you like things a bit quieter; there’s plenty of good weather and you avoid the thronging summer crowds. September is really classed as a summer month, and October enjoys daily highs that average in the low 20s. November sees a large increase in rainfall and it is the wettest month of the year on average with 115 mm. However the month can still see plenty of sunny days with temperatures in the high teens.

Spring enjoys a lot of good weather and it gets better and better as the season progresses. March averages +14 C, with lows of +9 C and highs of +18 C. By May it’s almost +5 C warmer on average, rainfall is down to around 20 mm on average, and you can expect an excellent 9 hours of sunshine per day.

Winter

Winters are pretty mild in Puerto Banus. Temperature is unlikely to fall below +5 C even at night and winter days can see the mercury rising into the mid teens. This makes it a popular place for people to come and escape the cold damp winters elsewhere in Europe. While areas inland in Spain can often see very cold winter temperatures, the proximity to the sea and the shelter from the towering Sierra Nevada Mountains mean that it rarely gets cold in Puerto Banus. You will need a good jacket for the evenings which can become quite chilly.

Most of the yearly rainfall occurs in late autumn and early winter so expect a few showers at this time of year. December, with almost 100 mm, is topped only by November in terms of average rainfall. From December it does begin to decrease but expect some precipitation throughout winter and the occasional stormy day.
